Wilmslow Road Pharmacy is offering the free NHS Meningitis B vaccination service for eligible young people. 

This time-limited NHS service is aimed at current Year 13 students and eligible young adults under 25 who are starting university, undergraduate higher education, or living in residential further education accommodation or halls of residence for the first time in autumn 2026.

Meningitis B can cause serious illness, including meningitis and sepsis. The risk can be higher for young people starting university or college because of close contact in shared living and social settings. 

Eligible patients need two doses of the vaccine, at least 28 days apart, so booking early helps provide protection before term starts.

Booking / access note:

Online booking is preferred so the pharmacy can manage appointments efficiently. Walk-in patients may be accepted where possible. Eligibility will be checked at the appointment before the vaccination is given.

Sinusitis

Walk-ins to the pharmacy are welcome, or call for a phone person consultation. (Note: the Earache service can only be carried out if you attend the pharmacy).

Fungal infections (sweat rash) of the skin can cause redness and irritation. Commonly found between the toes (Athletes feet) or in the groin area (Dhabi itch) It can be treated by anti-fungal creams available from our pharmacist.

Haemorrhoids

These are commonly swelling found internally or externally in the anus area. They can itch, be painful and in some instances bleed. We pharmacist can prescribe creams with applicators to ease the discomfort.

Hair loss

Hay fever

Strep A antibiotics

We can prescribe antibiotics for the bacterial condition known as Strep Throat (pharyngitis). Common symptoms of this include: Throat pain that usually comes on quickly, pain when swallowing, red / swollen tonsils, sometimes with white patches or streaks of pus, tiny red spots on the area at the back of the roof of the mouth (soft or hard palate), swollen, tender lymph nodes in your neck, fever, headache, rash, nausea or vomiting, especially in younger children. Thrush

Thrush is a yeast infection (commonly Candida albicans) that can be found in the genital areas, armpits and between the toes. Both men and women can get thrush and it can be passed on through sexual activity. Chlamydia
